Duas for Dhul Hijjah

Sacred Supplications for the Blessed Days of Dhul Hijjah: Unlocking Divine Barakah Through Heartfelt Du'as

The sacred month of Dhul Hijjah emerges as one of Islam’s most hallowed periods—SubhanAllah! Yet countless believers remain unaware that these initial ten days stand unrivaled as the most cherished moments in Allah’s sight. These aren’t merely significant days; they represent the absolute pinnacle of blessed time itself. “There exist no days wherein righteous actions become more beloved to Allah than these ten magnificent days,” declares the profound hadith documented in Sahih al-Bukhari. This singular statement illuminates the extraordinary spiritual magnitude these moments carry. During these sacred intervals, cultivating our bond with the Almighty becomes paramount. Maximizing our ‘ibadah transforms from recommendation into necessity. Among the most potent methods to achieve this elevation lies through abundant du’a—sincere supplications that pierce the heavens. When executed with unwavering sincerity and complete faith in Allah’s acceptance, du’a rewards transcend ordinary comprehension. The Prophet (peace be upon him) proclaimed through Tirmidhi: “Dua constitutes the very essence of worship.” This declaration reveals supplication’s true nature—not mere requesting, but the soul’s communion with its Creator.

The Quintessential Dhul Hijjah Supplications

Allow us to illuminate the most beneficial du’as, carefully selected to help you harvest the extraordinary rewards these ten blessed days offer:
Sacred Invocation for Fasting
Islamic tradition encourages fasting throughout Dhul Hijjah’s initial nine days. This beautiful Sunnah delivers magnificent rewards alongside sins’ forgiveness. The blessed nature of these days amplifies fasting’s inherent benefits exponentially.
Fasting during Dhul Hijjah becomes extraordinarily advantageous due to Allah’s special Barakah bestowed during this period. Since fasting ranks among the most virtuous reward-bearing acts, undertaking it during these days receives the highest recommendation.
Upon breaking your fast, recite this sacred du’a:
Arabic: ذهب الظمأ وابتلت العروق وثبت الأجر إن شاء الله
Transliteration: “Dhahaba adh-Dhama’ wabtallatil-urooq wa thabatal-ajr inshaa’Allah”
Meaning: Thirst has departed, veins have moistened, and reward stands confirmed by Allah’s will.
Profound Supplication for Divine Forgiveness
Allah extends His infinite mercy toward those who approach Him with genuine repentance during Dhul Hijjah’s first ten days. His Divine compassion knows no bounds for sincere seekers.
This Quranic du’a seeks forgiveness:

Meaning: “Our Lord! We have believed, therefore forgive our transgressions and shield us from the fire’s torment” (Al-Imran 3:16)
Invocation Seeking Divine Protection
These ten beloved days represent moments of exceptional du’a acceptance. Remembering our Akhirah while supplicating becomes crucial—requesting protection for our eternal journey.
Transliteration: ‘Allaahumma innee as-aluka Ridaaka wal Jannah wa a’audhu’bika min sakhatika wan-naar’

Supplication for Divine Guidance
These ten precious days offer unique opportunities for gaining closeness to our Creator. They provide moments to realign our lives toward earning His pleasure. Therefore, seeking Allah’s guidance becomes essential:
Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الهُدَى وَ التُّقَى وَ العَفَافَ وَ الغِنَى
Transliteration: ‘Allāhumma Innī As’aluka al-Hudā Wat-Tuqā Wal-Afāfa Wal-Ghinā’

Heartfelt Du’a for Our Beloved Ummah
Dhul Hijjah witnesses Hajj’s magnificent gathering—Muslims from every corner uniting in Makkah with identical goals: pleasing Allah and fulfilling His sacred rights. During these holy moments, remembering our global Muslim family becomes imperative. We must ask Allah to grant them ease, patience, and fulfill their deepest needs.

Meaning: O Allah! Improve Muhammad’s Ummah’s condition. O Allah! Grant ease to Muhammad’s Ummah. O Allah! Bestow mercy upon Muhammad’s Ummah.
Supplication for Divine Acceptance
Throughout Dhul Hijjah, Qurbani sacrifices occur globally, reflecting Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his beloved son Ismail for Allah’s sake. This powerful act of devotion echoes through generations.
After intensifying worship and offering Qurbani, seeking acceptance of our righteous deeds becomes paramount. Reflecting upon Prophet Ibrahim’s story and sacrifice, we may recite his supplication made while constructing the Holy Ka’aba alongside Ismail:
Arabic: رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيم
Transliteration: “Rabbana taqabbal minna, innaka antas-Sami’ul-‘Aleem”
Meaning: “Our Lord! Accept this service from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”

Sacred Du'as for Arafah Day

Arafah Day stands as Islam’s most significant days. On this blessed day, Allah completed His favors upon Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and approved Islam as humanity’s perfect way of life.
Whether performing Hajj on Arafah’s plains or remaining home, maximizing this blessed day becomes essential. Abundant du’a, seeking Allah’s forgiveness, should fill these precious hours. Remember friends, relatives, neighbors, and the entire Ummah in your heartfelt supplications.
The hadith in Muslim declares: “No day exists wherein Allah frees more people from Hellfire than Arafah Day. He draws near those standing on Arafah, then reveals before His angels, asking: ‘What do these people seek?'”
This special Arafah Day du’a should be recited, particularly during the final hour before Maghrib:
Arabic: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Transliteration: “Lailaha illalahu wahadahu lasharikalahu lahulmulku walahu hamdu wahuva alakulli shayin kadir”
Meaning: “No deity exists except Allah alone, Who has no partner. To Him belongs dominion, to Him belongs praise, and He possesses power over everything.”
Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah also includes reciting Tahleel (‘La ilaha illallah’), Takbeer (‘Allahu Akbar’), Tahmeed (‘Alhamdulillah’), and Tasbeeh (‘Subhanallah’) abundantly throughout this sacred day.
